Staying in Paraq 6 Jan 2014

Sohpia (5)

Brazilian pizza to celebrate a Brazilian baptism

1-6-14

Dear Family,
So we finished another transfer and finally I will not be getting transferred, but I received a new assignment! For the first time our mission will have Sister LĂder Treinadoras. So there is one in Ponta Grossa and then myself and a Brazillian will be the SLT for Curitiba. I have no idea how this is going to work because when I did this in the states we just had 2 zones and it was with my companion so now I have like 10 times as many sisters and not my companion, but it will be great! I don´t think I´ve ever felt this inadequate. I definitely am not fluent and I´m still trying to figure out how to do things the Brazilian way, but the Lord never told us we had to be perfect and I know he will help me every step of the way :)

We actually had a pretty rough week - Renato finally committed to baptism and we were so excited and the morning of-- he told us he didn´t want to and when we got to his house to talk to him he was in Curitiba. It was heart-breaking in the moment, but now it’s kinda funny to think I literally had a pesquisador flee the city from us. And a lot of people last minute didn´t come to church like they said they would, but we also found some great families this week that I am very excited for.

Moment of self-control for the mission - We have one investigator who’s a velinho and he loves philosophy and politics, and he tried to explain to me this week that Jesus was actually a socialist. He´s the cutest old man, but I definitely had to bite my tongue on that one.

Good news as well - we finally found a new casa that we will move into this week! It took up a lot of time, but we didn´t feel too good about the fact that we were finding a deadly spider in our house literally every day and especially when they started showing up in our bedroom consistently and having a broken door so anyone could come in anytime.. not the safest..

One of the greatest lessons the Lord has been teaching me this week is humility. I had an experience that made me think of Levi Savage in 17 miracles when he gets called-out for something that wasn´t wrong. In the moment you want to be frustrated and fight back, but I´m learning how a lot of times we have to be willing to do the right thing and work hard and be obedient even if someone else will get the credit for it and only the Lord knows what you´re sacrificing.  I´m amazed at how much he really does always bless us. Truly the Lord´s approval is most important, and when He´s first and foremost who we want to please it is evident that we truly have faith.

We are so blessed to know the caminho do Senhor! That truly His plan is a plan of happiness and the more we have faith/trust that that is true, the better life will be!
Love yall! The gospel is true!
